QUIT WASTEFULNESS, START GIVING! (Vol. 3)

‘I’LL RATHER BUILD ORPHANAGE HOMES THAN BUY MANSIONS’              Living in a mansion(s) happens to be the dream of some very ambitious people. Having an opportunity to see such a dream being fulfilled and forfeiting it to build a comfortable bungalow or duplex while you spend the rest of the money to build orphanage home(s), is what some people regard as ‘foolishness’.  Why would someone in his ‘right senses’ choose to deprive himself of such ‘good life’, ‘comfort’ & ‘fame’? I’m sure you were almost welcoming the thought of it being foolish but before you conclude, go a step further in finishing this article.  In this article, we’ll be considering a typical case of a situation which is very much related to this subject matter. HERE COMES THE SHORT STORY: "He struggled for his life after being shot in the chest by an armed robber that fateful night when a gang of robbers attacked his home...

THERE'S NO POINT KEEPING YOUR 'EXCESSES'        Like I always love being practical about issues such as this, this volume promises not to be an exception. We’ll be looking at just one story out of the numerous cases we have in our society. Do well to get the message and learn the vital lessons. The series 'QUIT WASTEFULNESS, START GIVING' is geared at eliminating 'excuses' some people give in order to boycott giving to the poor and needy. It’s also our goal to see to development of the habit of giving among individuals. This is in line with the blog’s vision to touch lives positively. You’ll agree with me that ‘giving’ is one of the ways to make positive impact. Let’s make giving our business! Coming back to today’s volume, we'll be laying emphasis and placing our focus on ‘GIVING OUT YOUR EXCESSES'. Here comes the short story: Peterson had just returned back from work with two loaves of bread. It was barely up to 5 minutes before ...

PAY NOW OR PAY LATER? CHOOSE! (Vol. 1)

‘I GOT MORE THAN SHE DID AT THE END’ Little did I know I was sowing good seeds ahead of time, when I spent most of my time doing what some people tagged ‘unimportant’. The reverse was the case for my roommate, Joana who later learnt her lessons the hard way. This was how it all started: It took me less than a month to notice a whole lot about Joana. Luckily for us, we moved into the room the same day and we wasted no time in relating with each other much better than I expected. We became cool friends and remained as such until she began to give me some distance. Well, the reason was not far-fetched. Joana felt offended with the fact that I offered ‘friendly advice’ most times I saw she was gradually drifting away from her previous ‘serious’ self. I tried my best to be non-judgmental in my approach but she often times told me “we were different set of people”.  The ‘serious’ Joana would burn the mid-night candle to read and create time for other important activi...

THE UNNECESSARY CRAVE FOR ‘LATEST’ THINGS. I’m sure some people cannot wait for iPhone 8 to be released to get their hands on it and sing the song of using the ‘latest’ gadget. For other people, it could be cars, clothes, wristwatches among others. Unfortunately, Nigeria happens to produce less than 10% of these things but we are quick in consuming a whole lot of them. Nevertheless, I’ll like to show you a practical way on how to possibly balance things, quit wastefulness and become a giver. Most times, people complain they don’t give because they don’t have but taking a look at this scenario reveals that people simply don’t have what to give because of their wastefulness. I’ll like to sight this example of two different people under the same situation. From this example, I’ll like us learn a way to handle our sharp taste for ‘latest’ things and save some money which you can use to touch lives positively by helping those in need. Davies wanted to purchas...

YOUR FAITH IS TOO SMALL!

I was opportune to read this beautiful and challenging article which holds an important message(s) for all. I just couldn’t help but share this here. It’s a short story of ‘Two Fishermen’. Enjoy! “Two men went fishing. One was an experienced fisherman, the other wasn’t. Every time the experienced fisherman caught a big fish, he put it in his ice chest to keep it fresh. Whenever the inexperienced fisherman caught a big fish, he threw it back. The experienced fisherman watched this go on all day and finally got tired of seeing the man waste good fish. “Why do you keep throwing back all the big fish you catch?” he asked. The inexperienced man replied “I only have a small frying pan”. Sometimes, like that inexperienced fisherman, we throw back the big plans, big dreams, big jobs and big opportunities God brings our way. The reason is not farfetched! It’s because our faith is small! We laugh at that fisherman who didn’t figure out that all he needed was a bigge...
