YOU ARE LIKE THIS AXE!             An axe man wanted to fell a tree in order to obtain wood for his usual economic activities. He moved into his store room where he had a collection of different hand-axes to pick one which he considered could do the job.           Looking at his collection, he finally selected a small-looking axe. Eventually, the axe succeeded in completing the job but unfortunately it took a wrong turn. The axe ascribed credits of the job to itself, telling its owner that “he deserved the credits”.           The axe-man became furious on hearing this and seeing the axe’s conduct.           I hope you enjoyed volume 2 and picked vital lessons. This volume promises not to fall short of that standard. Today, we’ll be looking at ‘your heart as the background of your life’! I’m sure you’ll like to know what this volume has for us.           Before going into that squarely, let’s just establish a footing again. Students know that to experience academic success, they have to make efforts to ‘hide themselves’ at some point to study. PAY ATTENTION TO THE BACKGROUND (Vol. 2) – ‘No Roots, No Fruits’

In the previous volume, we were able to establish the truth that the background although hidden and sometimes undesirable, it is much more important than we thought. This could be seen from several life illustrations. With that mind, I’ll like us to forge ahead in paying attention to the background with ‘No Roots, No Fruits’.  When we look at a tree, we are interested and attracted by the fruits which we consider desirable and useful to us but we fail to ever imagine if something called ‘a root’ ever existed. Of course, we barely compliment the root. ‘Nice root’….sounds awkward in your ears right? But here’s the blunt truth: ‘there could have been no fruit on that tree without the root! The root appears first even when it is hidden. I’m sure you’re aware of the relevance of roots to the entire plant (anchorage, absorption of nutrients). The background is usually the hidden part or portion of things. The fact that it is hidden poses a major challenge to several people who are concerned with the visible, outward and attractive appearances. I’ve discovered not just from nature but life generally that although the background seems ‘undesirable’ to many, it has the most tremendous effect! It seems to be the driving force or engine, thus giving room for the need for us to pay close attention to it. Finding it hard to believe thus far? Here are some examples you can relate with: ·          When you look at a beautiful house, of course you applaud the nice painting and structure but you forget that there’s something hidden that keeps that beautiful house standing.
