PAY ATTENTION TO THE BACKGROUND (Vol. 2) – ‘No Roots, No Fruits’




In the previous volume, we were able to establish the truth that the background although hidden and sometimes undesirable, it is much more important than we thought. This could be seen from several life illustrations.

With that mind, I’ll like us to forge ahead in paying attention to the background with ‘No Roots, No Fruits’. 
When we look at a tree, we are interested and attracted by the fruits which we consider desirable and useful to us but we fail to ever imagine if something called ‘a root’ ever existed. Of course, we barely compliment the root. ‘Nice root’….sounds awkward in your ears right?


But here’s the blunt truth: ‘there could have been no fruit on that tree without the root! The root appears first even when it is hidden. I’m sure you’re aware of the relevance of roots to the entire plant (anchorage, absorption of nutrients).
Furthermore, the root bears the weight of the plant and even the fruits that are appealing to you. This means that a tree with a strong and firm root will stand even with less or more fruits while a tree that has many fruits with a weak root will end up falling.

This is the lesson: Take out time to invest in developing ‘your root’ – yourself now! Make your roots strong and even stronger to be able withstand and manage future fruits (situations, achievements and positions) later in life. Certain situations in life will make demands of our ‘foundation’ or self-investment over the years and be sure that if your ‘background’ appears to be weak, then you may fall. Make your roots stronger NOW! Invest in yourself!

I’m sure you were able to pick one or two things from the previous volume, ‘pause and think before pointing that finger’. This volume promises not to be an exception as we’ll be looking at something very critical. Critical because we are all involved and connected with this subject. We use it every day of our lives!
