NO ONE IS NOTICING/LOOKING AT ME (A WRONG NOTION)

Several people (and you may just be one of them)  have held on to the notion that 'no one is noticing them or looking at them' for so long. I've heard people say this most times. Let's examine this typical example. Sometimes when it has to do with your choice of clothes. You just pick anything and whisper deep down within yourself 'who cares? No one is looking at me'.

This notion is outrightly wrong on a critical look like we'll be observing in this article.

Now don't get me wrong. People do make the statement 'I don't care whatever people say' or 'I'm just doing my thing'.

Fine, provided you're up to something good.

Do you think there'll be anything called 'integrity' and 'reputation' if everyone does not put certain things into consideration?

Here's the truth: 'The world is watching'.

I'll prove it to you.
¶ Haven't you had times when people you may not know very well (and sometimes see them around) approach you and ask you questions like:

• You're in the higher institution now right? (because they've stopped seeing you around in the church, street or estate)

• Did you travel? Where have you been?

• Why are you not with your brother/sister today? (because they often see you together with the 'brother/sister'). Sometimes, they could be mistaking your close friend for your biological brother/sister.

Okay, if you haven't experienced that, check this next one out.

¶ If no one is really noticing you then why do you sometimes get nominated for some tags?

This is peculiar to secondary school students and Tertiary institution undergraduates.

I remember there was something we called 'slum book' in secondary school. Almost everyone had it. What was in the slum book? It contains a list of several tags where you'll have to write down names of your classmates you felt deserved the tags. Going through it, I discovered it was only possible to fill the book based on 'how you noticed and assessed your classmates' With  that, it was evident people were watching.

In the University, several departments and faculties have such awards for concerned students where you'll have to nominate and vote for students you feel are worthy of the award. This is also obviously based on what people have noticed.

You still don't believe the notion is wrong? This next one may convince you.

¶ If you are a WhatsApp user, you must have received Broadcast messages from your friends with titles like 'Awards of the year, which will you give me?' or 'what do you like about me?' Good. How do you know which awards to give if your haven't noticed or assessed the person in question?

¶ Even Several corporate organizations and sectors (including the other entertainment industry majoring on Music & Movies) give merit awards to their staff or stakeholders based on notice and assessment or do they just dream about it?

I'm sure you're now convinced beyond reasonable doubt. I hope you're ready to discard the notion?

What then do I want to bring out of this? Am I telling you to live your life to please other people? A big NO! I'm not saying you should do so. All I'm saying is be true, remain unique and most importantly, be on good side and right corner in everything because the world is watching.

Here's what you have to do
• Be mindful of your integrity, good name and reputation.
Fighting in public won't earn you a good one.

• Get noticed only for the right thing and stand for it! Some choose to be noticed for the wrong things. You either gain fame for good or become notorious.

• Hold and treat yourself with self respect and dignity (you'll get them back in return from people).

Remember, 'The World is Watching'!
