'RECENT' BAD HABITS TO QUIT


Most of the diseases and illnesses in our world today have been linked to bad lifestyle patterns and poor habits. It is never too late to stop bad habits and choose a better, healthier and happier life!



CHECK OUT SOME OF THE RECENT BAD HABITS TO QUIT!


BAD HABIT 1
LONG HOURS OF WEARING HEADPHONES/EARPIECES.



Music they say, is life. I guess it's one reason why some people have chosen to capitalize on this. We listen to music almost every day of our lives.

Headphones and earphones have become the major means by which we listen to music in the 21st century. This is common among youths. We listen to music to pass time, while travelling or while working out.




It's not bad to listen to music but it becomes a bad habit when we listen to it for long hours without breaks. Listening to loud music only worsens the case as this can result to hearing loss.

 Headphones are not the culprits,  it's the volume and the hours that can land you in problem(s). Besides, ignoring
 minor symptoms of hearing loss is also one of the biggest criminals.



BAD HABIT 2
• SLEEPING WITH MAKEUP.



Ladies! Ladies!! ladies!!! Some of you are guilty of this. After wearing makeup to look 'pretty' during the day, I think it's sensible and advisable to clean them off when you're about to sleep.

 Wearing makeup while sleeping is no guarantee to having Sweet Dreams.

 It's remains a bad habit whatever your reasons could be. You're at risk of having clogged pores,  congested skin, spots on your skin and vision loss.



 Vision loss? Yes, from the irritation effects of mascara and other eye makeup.



So, remember to clean them off once it's sleep time!



BAD HABIT 3
• SNACKING CONTINUOUSLY - 'TAKING SNACKS CONTINUOUSLY EVEN WHEN YOU'RE NOT HUNGRY'



You may term this 'Enjoyment' or 'good life' but it's  one that'll lead to a sick life. I'll tell you why. This is one way to disrupt your regular feeding pattern.

 When you snack non-stop,  you're gradually losing touch with your body's  natural satisfaction and hunger signals. This can further lead to extremely serious overfeeding and unhealthy extra calories and pounds causing diabetes, acidity, heart disease  and other serious conditions.

 It's worse when you flood your system with harmful ingredients derived from eating junk foods.


Benefits of Stopping  this:
* By placing your focus on hunger signals as said above, you can control food cravings, lose weight (weight falls to a healthier level) and avoid energy slump.

 * Replacement of unhealthy substances with more nutritious fare.


WHAT TO DO: 
* Avoid using 'food' as an escape route for boredom, stress, anger or a bad mood. Eat only when you feel hungry. In order words 'feed for the right reason'

* Eat the right food. Keep junk foods at distance.  Go for fruits, vegetables, low-fat, nuts and whole-grain products because they hold numerous nutritious and health benefits.


* Eat healthy snacks.




BAD HABIT 4
• SKIPPING BREAKFAST



I'm guilty of this sometimes for certain reasons. With my reasons notwithstanding, it remains a very bad habit that holds consequences.

You might have heard or read severally that 'breakfast remains the most important meal of the day'. It's very true! Experts generally support eating a healthy morning meal.


 See some benefits of taking breakfast: 
√ Taking the first meal of the day provides you with more energy to go about your daily activities either in school or at work.

√ It makes you active, fuels your body and mind and catalyses concentration throughout the morning.

√ It reduces excessive eating when taking lunch later in the day.

√ Breakfast eaters process information better and have lower blood pressure.



Do you know that a recent study from Harvard found that men who stab breakfast have a 27% tendency of experiencing heart attacks and deaths resulting from coronary heart disease? well, now you know.

 A cup of tea or coffee or a convenient meal like Cornflakes, Golden morn,  Quaker oats among others may just be enough to set your day into motion. Cereals are generally not a bad choice!



Having read the above benefits of eating breakfast, avoid stabbing morning meals! The key to a good breakfast is a balance of protein, carbohydrates and fat.



BAD HABIT 5
• SMOKING




Even Tobacco industries that manufacture cigarettes thought it wise to advice smokers. It's written on every cigarette pack 'Smokers are liable to die young'. Despite this, people remain adamant with the smoking habit.

Smoking just one cigarette a day, can cause blood clots, which may prevent swift blood flow and further lead to the development of plaque in your arteries and blood vessels.




The sad thing is that even non-smokers can affected by smoking habit of Smokers. Non-smokers inhale the smoke as they pass by areas where the act is taking place. Their lives are also endangered.

We are quick to spot those smoking cigarettes whenever we hear 'smoking' but they are not the only ones affected.




Those who engage in selling roasted planted locally known as 'Boli' and selling smoked fish are also at risk.



 I'm not saying they should quit their businesses but the situation can be better controlled by making use of nose cover to reduce inhalation of smoke.



You see them around you. Save lives by passing this information across to them.
