A MESSAGE TO A DISCOURAGED HEART (Volume 2)
NELSON'S EXPERIENCE
Nelson had a lot of things to do but 24 hours seemed very few to him. He tried to fall asleep but sleep wasn't forthcoming. His mind was encumbered with the thoughts of his present poor financial status and family challenges.
He had just lost a major contract job and money was very tight. The burden of all these things told greatly on him that it threatened to destroy him completely.
Like it was his tradition, he got up and tiptoed into to the edge of the nursery where his little baby Richard slept soundly.
Baby Richard didn't feel any pressure Nelson felt. He has no idea of what tomorrow held - he just knew his parents would take care of him.
Nelson smiled as he tried to picture how worried Baby Richard would be if he knew all that he needed tomorrow. He needed so many things he couldn't possibly get for himself - after all, he was just a baby, and babies can't prepare breakfast, lunch or dinner themselves or get themselves dressed up.
But if he knew all he needed the next day and felt the impossibility of getting it, would he say what his dad had been saying - that there was no way and that's the end of it all? Would Baby Richard also have sleepless nights fretting too?
How silly that would be! Baby Richard had parents who loving took care of all his needs. He didn't need to understand how his needs would all be met - it was enough to know his parents would be up to the task in taking care of him. Nelson paused in his train of thoughts. Didn't he have an Heavenly Father caring for him too?
One who is able! The One who makes a way where there seems to be no way? A smile suddenly illuminated his face, and a weight fell from his shoulders. He could curl up and rest, even without answers, just like Baby Richard, confident that his Heavenly Father had it all under control.
