8 RECENT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

CHECK OUT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS YOU TAKE FOR GRANTED.

You must have heard about safety precautions in school, at work, at home, while driving and all that several times. Very good! This is because precautions are meant to save you from imminent dangers or disheartening consequences.

It is to this effect I've decided not to
bore you with a million and one safety precautions but to show you those ones you may not know or you take for granted most times. They are things you do without knowing their possible after effects when they occur. They say 'Prevention is better than cure'!

Part of these precautions point to technological gadgets which has increasingly enjoyed patronage and usage in recent times especially among youths. Indeed, these gadgets hold a lot of benefits but they also hold grievous consequences when mismanaged or abused. It is for this reason I have chosen to let you know some of these things and how to prevent abuse or mismanagement of them. Following these precautions carefully will save you from a number of consequences. They include:

1. Don't wear dark clothing while walking on the road at night.

This is something people take for granted. Deaths have been recorded due to the failure of people to put this into consideration.

Wearing dark clothes that ain't bright enough to reflect light from vehicles should be avoided especially when crossing the road. Someone putting on a sky blue or yellow dress has better chances of being noticed by a forthcoming vehicle than one with black or deep blue shirt.

Those who attend Church evening services, visit friends or return from work at night should endeavor to make plans to put on bright-colored dresses when leaving home. For those who put on suits, endeavor to make your shirt one that is brightly colored. That is not enough, Pull the suit and hold it while your shirt does the 'reflection'.

Those who drive vehicles at night are less affected by this precaution measure. Drive safely and join the movement to spread this precaution measure.

2. Don't use headphones or earpieces while walking on the road.

This has commonly become part of youths around the world. As 'cool' or 'fresh' as you think it is, it's very dangerous! I've heard about deaths resulting from doing this.

The other day, it was the case of a young man who failed to hear the beckon of well-meaning people around him, warning him about the forthcoming train. Unfortunately he walked briskly into the railway and got crushed by the train. According to reports, the site was bloody. A silly act as this cut short the life of a young man and threw his family into mourning. I don't want that for you! It is to that effect, I'll like you to take note of this precaution and put it into action.

Wearing earpieces or headphones on the road prevents you from hearing the horn of a vehicle or train. It's worse when you have them playing with very large music.

Apart from the fact that it increases the risk of an accident, it also destroys your eardrums gradually. Be safe! You can wear your earpieces and headphones in Safe zones with absence of Hearing impaired accidents. It pays to be active on the road!

3. Avoid receiving or making phone calls while charging your phone or powering it.

Yes. Do not receive/make calls when connected to a charging outlet like power supply or even a power bank. The danger is that you phone might explode when you do this. This explosion immediately affects the region(s) close to the phone which is usually your ear, face or your hand holding the phone.  I've watched a video on this and I've seen true life stories of the after effect. Here are some of them. (I'm so sorry if these images appear irritating).

4. It's advisable to use your left ear to answer phone calls.

Over 70% of telephone users are guilty of this probably for reasons of ignorance, forgetfulness or willful disobedience. You may wonder why just as I initially did. Are both ears not alike? Here's the reason. Answering phone calls with your right ear makes your brain much more susceptible to the radiation waves from your phone. Therefore, instead of using your right ear, use the left. I know this might take time for some people to adjust to this change but please do! *Prevention they say is better than cure*.

5. Keep your gadgets on the safe side of the road.

If you like your gadgets and you don't want to loose them, you'll take note of this. Exposing them to the road or placing them on the wrong side increases the chances of them being snatched from you or stolen and you just may not be able to chase the culprit. If you choose to remain heady on this, ten make sure you have a strong and firm grip of your gadgets if your pockets can't hold them.

6. Keep toddlers or young ones on the safe side of the road.
I'm sure you never expected to see this here. You're guilty of it sometimes right? Choose to change that now. It's not enough to keep your gadgets on the safe side of the road. It's much more important to keep young ones too because, this is a matter of human life.

Keeping them at such positions doesn't just keep them at risk of being hit by a vehicle but also reduces your control over them. It's not safe to!

7. Don't walk backing the traffic.
Face the traffic. Doing this while walking gives you not just safety but also considerable control. It makes you see forthcoming vehicles, tricycles or bicycles especially when they maybe going the right way. It's quite disheartening that even when facing the traffic, some vehicles or motorcycles choose to go against traffic although in minimal cases. Once again, be active on the road!

8. Avoid placing laptops on your lap.

You might have been deceived by the name 'lap'top but get to know some facts here first. This device emits a high value of EMFs (Electromagnetic fields) during use. It's worse when you use it while charging it or plugged in than when you're using it battery-powered. Placing your laptop on your laps for several hours expose you to not just immediate consequences like discolored patchy skin and Toasted skin syndromes  but future problems as well.

For pregnant women and males, it has a negative effect on their reproductive health as it causes decrease in sperm motility, increase in sperm DNA fragmentation and mutations.
Here is what you then have to do. I'm definitely not advising you to do away with your laptops but get a laptop pad to place your laptop on or a cushion that is about a feet thick. You can also choose to place your laptop in areas away from your body parts. Now you're informed!
